This position reports to:

Process and Product Engineering Manager

The work model for the role is: Onsite Richmond VA

Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will have the opportunity to create and modify the standard designs of equipment systems or installations including standard specifications for manufacturing fabrication or construction using standard design concepts. Each day you will design engineering solutions including drawings and calculations according to contract specifications. You will also showcase your expertise by contributing to design reviews and design verification and modifying the design as necessary.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Review and Implement engineering changes across products and coordinating the deliverables between cross functional teams; Contribute to design/manufacturing reviews and verification providing feedback on modifications as needed

  • Ensure the manufacturing line has the support required to meet market demand by monitoring creating/verifying work instructions and taking a proactive approach to remove barriers that would impede achieving this goal

  • Lead correct and monitor all data related to power protection products using the manufacturing units PLM/ERP systems such a Material Master manufacturing Bill of Materials (mBOM) Routings and Costing; Establish contacts with suppliers for technical support to improve material quality and/or to decrease costs

  • Work with others cross-functionally to deliver designs in a timely manner with high-quality deliverables that meet customer expectations and project requirements; Work directly with cross functional team to implement localize and outsource products and manufacturing opportunities

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor degree in electrical/mechanical engineering preferred

  • Minimum 2 years experience in lean manufacturing operations or engineering

  • Knowledge of electromechanical design detail part drawings assembly drawings and schematics and design for manufacturing in all the above

  • Experience interpreting and applying electrical safety standards (UL/IEC etc.) a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs SAP (PTC Windchill a plus)

  • Proficient in Excel Data analysis and Reports; Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)

  • Experience in CAD/SolidWorks a plus

  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills; must be goals oriented analytic and methodical

  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
