Job Summary
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist to join our team in Boston MA. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting small molecule drug development by applying functional genomics techniques to address key biological questions. This position requires a strong background in biological sciences and hands-on laboratory experience.
This is a contract role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory experiments to support genomics research including cell culture gene editing flow cytometry and next-generation sequencing.
- Follow established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of results.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of experimental procedures observations and results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data and contribute to project goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the laboratory environment.
Qualifications
- Education:
- PhD in Biological Sciences OR
- Masters degree with 5 years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelors degree with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with flow cytometry and next-generation sequencing (NGS) is a plus.
