POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Superintendent or designee leaders selected from this applicant pool may serve in school-based and/or division-level leadership roles supporting academic programs student services and operational effectiveness. These roles are designed to build a strong bench of leaders prepared to assume key district leadership positions as vacancies or strategic needs arise.

Leaders in this pool will contribute to student achievement staff development and the effective implementation of School Board policies administrative regulations and applicable federal and state laws.

The purpose of this administrative pool is to:

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of high-quality leaders.
  • Provide strategic leadership support across academic and student service departments.
  • Ensure continuity and sustainability in division-level leadership roles.
  • Strengthen the divisions capacity to serve every student every day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leaders in this pool may be expected to:

Provide strategic leadership aligned with the divisions mission and goals.
  • Supervise coach and evaluate principals directors coordinators or program leaders as assigned.
  • Lead the development implementation and monitoring of academic and student service programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations.
  • Analyze and use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure coherent systems of support for students and staff.
  • Develop and support high-performing teams focused on equity access and excellence.
  • Serve as a representative of the division in meetings committees and community engagements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must hold a Masters degree from an accredited college or university
  • Must hold a valid Virginia Postgraduate Professional License (or eligibility)
  • Must hold or be eligible for an endorsement in Administration and Supervision
  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience at the school or division level.
  • Experience supervising adults and supporting professional growth.
  • Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Knowledge of curriculum instruction assessment and/or student services systems.
  • Strong communication collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and manage complex initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of effective practices in capital improvement planning.
  • Solid knowledge of facility planning and management
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of public school operations school law Virginia Department of Education requirements and federal state and local regulatory guidance
  • Resolution of staff conflicts and disciplinary actions in a timely and effective manner.
  • Budget adherence and effective resource allocation.
  • Data-informed decision-making and improvements in student outcomes.
  • Ability to lead/manage groups of people craft departmental vision goals and objectives and oversee division projects and initiatives

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Directly supervises a team of 4 or more direct reports including but not limited to Facilities School Nutrition Transportation and Information Technology.
  • Participates in the recruitment selection and onboarding of employees including making hiring decisions.
  • Instructs trains coaches and mentors staff to promote professional growth and effective performance.
  • Develops staff schedules approves time off monitors work assignments and ensures operational efficiency.
  • Conducts formal and informal performance evaluations and provides actionable feedback.
  • Recommends and enforces appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Delegates tasks effectively and monitors progress to meet organizational goals.
  • Facilitates team meetings promotes collaboration and resolves conflicts.
  • Implements policies procedures and compliance standards within the department or program.
  • Identifies staff development needs and supports professional learning opportunities.
  • Supports change management and the implementation of new initiatives.
  • Promotes a culture of equity inclusion and high expectations among staff and students.
  • Analyzes operational data to inform decision-making and improve program outcomes.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Reliable transportation is necessary
  • Daily travel between schools LCS buildings and local areas is required
  • Minimal travel outside of the City of Lynchburg is required
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work may involve collaborative support across academic programs student services and operational functions and requires frequent standing sitting walking light lifting (up to 10 pounds) vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing reviewing and analyzing written or electronic data. Under ADA compliance reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to frequently stand sit walk talk or hear; use hands to finger handle type or feel; and stoop kneel or crouch.
