Job Summary for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA):
- Provide skilled occupational therapy support under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Implement treatment plans to help residents regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and improve functional performance.
- Assist in resident evaluations and contribute to documentation of progress and functional status.
- Deliver direct therapy services with compassion safety and effectiveness.
- Monitor and report residents responses to therapy interventions to the OT.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings sharing relevant updates on resident progress.
- Educate residents and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and safety techniques.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Ensure proper use and upkeep of adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
- Adhere to facility policies CMS guidelines and professional standards.
- Uphold ethical and professional conduct as required by licensure and certification.
- Work primarily in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or long-term care setting as part of a collaborative team.
- May involve physical tasks such as standing lifting and transferring residents.
