Job Description Trilyon is seeking a motivated and hands-on Server Validation Lab Technician to support server platform validation and lab operations in a high-volume engineering environment. The Server Validation Lab Technician will be responsible for deploying configuring and maintaining x86 server systems used in validation programs for BIOS and firmware development.
The Server Validation Lab Technician will work closely with hardware firmware and BIOS engineering teams to troubleshoot server platforms reproduce defects and validate system fixes. The Server Validation Lab Technician will also maintain rack infrastructure manage server inventory and ensure systems are configured correctly for testing.
This role requires a technically skilled Server Validation Lab Technician who is comfortable working directly with server hardware networking equipment and operating systems while managing multiple validation activities in a fast-paced lab environment.
Key Responsibilities Server Platform Deployment & Validation Deploy configure and maintain x86 server platforms with 2 5 years of hands-on server hardware experience.
Perform system bring-up activities including BIOS configuration firmware updates and platform validation testing.
Install and configure Linux and Windows Server operating systems for system validation (2 years experience preferred).
Support multiple validation programs by preparing systems and ensuring proper configuration.
Hardware Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis Diagnose and isolate hardware failures across CPU memory (DIMMs) PCIe devices storage networking and power systems with 3 years of troubleshooting experience.
Analyze system logs firmware outputs and operating system errors to support root cause analysis.
Reproduce defects and collaborate with engineering teams to validate system fixes.
Networking & Rack Infrastructure Support Troubleshoot L1/L2 network connectivity issues with 2 years of networking troubleshooting experience.
Validate switch configurations and maintain rack-level networking infrastructure.
Diagnose power distribution issues including PDUs power balancing and rack-level power configurations.
Lab Operations & Hardware Management Manage lab rack infrastructure including cabling airflow management and hardware component replacements with 2 years of lab or data center experience.
Track server inventory maintain asset documentation and support hardware shipping and receiving processes.
Follow ESD protection procedures and maintain compliance with lab safety standards.
System Access & Debug Support Utilize remote management tools such as BMC/IPMI serial console and KVM-over-IP with 2 years of experience in remote server access tools.
Execute validation test procedures and assist with debugging hardware or firmware issues.
Support basic scripting or automation tasks using Python PowerShell or Bash (1 year experience preferred).
Engineering Collaboration & Documentation Work closely with BIOS firmware and hardware engineering teams during validation cycles.
Document troubleshooting steps validation results and findings clearly for engineering analysis.
Assist teams in validating fixes and confirming system stability during testing.
Required Skills & Qualifications Server Hardware & Data Center Experience 2 5 years of experience working with server hardware or lab infrastructure.
Familiarity with x86 server architecture and enterprise server platforms.
Experience supporting hardware testing or validation programs.
Operating Systems 2 years of experience installing and configuring Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
Ability to analyze operating system logs and system behavior during troubleshooting.
Networking Knowledge Basic networking knowledge with 2 years of experience troubleshooting connectivity issues.
Understanding of VLANs subnets switches and network validation processes.
Automation & Debug Tools 1 year of scripting experience using Python PowerShell or Bash preferred.
Experience with remote management tools such as IPMI BMC or KVM-over-IP.
Education & Certifications Associates or Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering Information Technology Electronics or a related technical field preferred.
Candidates with a high school diploma must have 5 years of equivalent hands-on server hardware experience.
CompTIA A Network or similar technical certifications are considered a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Frequent standing walking bending and reaching in a lab or data center environment.
Manual dexterity required for handling server components and tools.
Comfortable working around rack infrastructure ladders and elevated server equipment.
Ability to work in environments with moderate noise levels and varying temperatures typical of data center labs.
