Job Summary
Senior Software Developer (IBM ALC / Mainframe)
Location: Remote (U.S. Based)
Client: Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
Clearance: MBI preferred or be eligible to obtain and maintain IRS MBI
Position Summary
Seeking a Senior Software Developer with strong IBM Assembler Language Coding (ALC) experience to support IRS Business Master File (BMF) systems within a z/OS mainframe environment. This role focuses on ALC development defect resolution production support and collaboration with IRS technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform IBM ALC coding testing and defect correction (P1/P2 production issues)
- Support BMF Pre-Posting Posting & Analysis MIS and Extract programs
- Conduct unit testing documentation updates and code transmittals
- Provide production and after-hours support as needed
- Utilize ServiceNow/RTC/JIRA for work tracking
- Collaborate with Enterprise Systems Testing and IRS stakeholders
- Support limited Java maintenance for modernization efforts (as needed)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (or 4 additional years of related experience)
- 8 years relevant experience
- 8 years IBM ALC (Assembler) programming
- Strong z/OS JCL and batch processing experience
- Experience with DB2 and IBM utilities
- Experience supporting BMF or similar upstream/downstream systems
- Strong communication skills
Preferred
- IRS systems experience
- SQL knowledge
- Prior federal experience
Security Requirements
- Must be U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (3 years)
- Must be Federal tax compliant
- Must comply with HSPD-12/PIV requirements
