Job Summary

Job Summary (List Format) Family Birthing Center RN (Salida CO)

- Independently assesses and evaluates laboring mothers and neonates using objective and subjective data.
- Identifies health care problems and collaborates with patients families providers and the healthcare team to set and achieve short- and long-term goals.
- Plans prioritizes and implements interventions including patient education and counseling.
- Maintains safe and effective care throughout all phases (labor delivery postpartum) and responds to emergencies to prevent complications.
- Provides direct patient care monitors patient responses and assists/educates in breastfeeding as needed.
- Promotes maternal wellness during pregnancy and postpartum through ongoing education.
- Educates mothers about infant care.
- Accurately documents all care events and education in the electronic medical record.
- Communicates patient status and significant events verbally and in writing to physicians and nursing supervisors.
- Assists in training and supporting other Family Birthing Center staff with new skills procedures and equipment.
- Collaborates with nursery nurse for care of mother-baby couplet.
- Assists physicians with procedures and supports nurse manager as needed.
- Responds to emergencies in other nursing units as possible.
- Maintains a clean orderly and safe environment for patients.
- Works 12-hour night shifts (6 pm 6 am) 36 hours/week with weekends and potential holiday shifts required.
- Requires minimum Associates Degree in Nursing and at least 2 years of LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum) experience.
- Must hold active Colorado RN license current BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS and NRP preferred.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role including lifting up to 50 pounds and maintaining required visual acuity for patient care.
- Specialty certifications (CPI ENPC RNFA TNCC AWHONN NIHSS STABLE ASLS NBSTSA APHON CMA CCMA RMA C-EFM) are beneficial.

Shift: 6 pm to 6 am 36 hours per required holidays potentially required
