Facility Overview: - 637 licensed bed teaching hospital
- Level 1 Trauma Center Chest Pain Center Stroke Center

Unit Details: - 61 beds (with surge capacity)
- Patient census: 61
- 2 years ED RN experience required (first-time travelers accepted)

Patient Population: - Common diagnoses: chest pain strokes diabetes abdominal pain MVCs hypertension stabbings mental health issues

Staffing Ratios: - RN: 1:4 (zone dependent)
- LPN: 1:4 (if applicable)
- CNA/Techs: 4-6 per shift

Required Licensure/Certifications: - BLS (Basic Life Support)
- BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm/EKG competency)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- National certification in emergency nursing preferred

Required Skills: - Level 1 Trauma ED nursing
- Proficiency with critical drips: Heparin Insulin Cardene Dopamine Epinephrine Fentanyl Propofol Levophed

Department Support: - CNA unit secretary charge nurse
- Phlebotomy/nurse draw available
- PICC team available (no general IV team)
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy Hospitalist Intensivist
- Central Telemetry monitoring in ER

Equipment/Technology: - EMR: EPIC
- Alaris IV pumps Pyxis med dispensing Phillips monitors
- VS3 and Dynamapp vital sign monitors PCA bladder scanner portable oxygen suction machine Glucommander Rapid Infuser Bearhugger

Floating: - Within the ER only

Orientation: - 1 day facility orientation educational modules
- 2 days departmental orientation

Scheduling: - 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
- 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- No call required
- Must work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Christmas New Years)
- RTO (Requested Time Off) subject to manager approval
