Job Summary

Position: VMWare Migration Architect

Location: Irvine CA(Onsite)

Duration: Fulltime

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

Extensive experience with VMware vSphere ESXi vCenter vMotion DRS HA and SRM.
Strong background in VMware migration approaches to AWS EC2 and modernization paths to EKS.
Hands-on expertise with VMware Cloud on AWS HCX migrations and cross-cloud mobility.
Understanding of Java/.NET workload hosting on VMware and dependent middleware like TIBCO ESB.
Knowledge of backend DB stack (Oracle 19c Exadata on AWS SQL Server) and VM-level considerations.
Experience with Windows Serverand RHEL 7 9 virtualization dependencies.
Proficiency with VMware networking: vSwitch dvSwitch VLAN NSX (preferred).
Familiarity with automation using PowerCLI Terraform Ansible.
Strong troubleshooting skills for VM performance storage mapping and cross-platform issues.
Ability to perform workload discovery dependency mapping and capacity planning.
Hands-on AWS EC2/EBS design for migrated VMs and high-availability architectures.
Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS HCX network extension and workload mobility.
Understanding of Amazon EKS for container modernization after migration.
Knowledge of AWS networking: VPC routing DX/VPN TGW security boundaries.
Experience integrating VMware migrations with AWS monitoring backup and DR services.
Familiarity with Terraform-based AWS infra automation and migration tools.
Ability to map VMware storage to AWS EBS EFS FSx and Exadata connectivity patterns.

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead VMware migration design for the Data Center Exit initiative to AWS EC2/EKS.
Conduct VMware estate discovery: clusters datastores VM configs and application dependencies.
Architect migration strategies using HCX VMC on AWS or native AWS tools.
Oversee migration of workloads supporting Java/.NET apps Oracle/SQL DBs and TIBCO ESB.
Define right-sizing strategy for compute storage and network in AWS post-migration.
Integrate VMware workloads with AWS VPC IAM security groups and hybrid connectivity.
Develop automation pipelines using Terraform PowerCLI and Ansible.
Validate OS storage and performance alignment during pilots and cutovers.
Collaborate with infra DB app and cloud teams to ensure migration readiness.
Produce architecture diagrams migration runbooks and operational documentation.
