Job Summary:
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse including data collection order execution and therapeutic procedures tailored to the patients age and needs while adhering to facility policies and procedures. Additional duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities:
- Gather and report patient data.
- Carry out physician orders.
- Perform therapeutic procedures on patients.
- Provide appropriate nursing care as directed by an RN.
- Document patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Perform selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinate equipment/supply needs.
- Notify appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Perform any other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of Illinois or ability to obtain license two weeks prior to starting employment.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Proof of successful completion of coursework for medication administration (Pharmacology) as a Practical Nurse in accordance with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) regarding Standards of Pharmacology/Administration for Medication Course for Practical Nurses (Must provide documentation at time of interview).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- One (1) year recent full time paid clinical experience in an acute care health facility or ambulatory care facility
- Prior experience in emergency or critical care environments
- A higher comfort level working with vents/trachs/PICC lines etc.
- Having 2 years of experience in direct patient care
Special Considerations:
- Mandatory float facility; all resources are required to float at the facilities discretion.
- Correctional Facility environment.
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Scheduling:
- Guaranteed Hours: 40
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend/ 2 weekends per month
- RTO: 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive. No holiday RTO. No RTO the day prior or after a holiday. No RTO on weekends.
