Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse assisting patients with daily living activities collecting patient data and performing designated patient care procedures. The CNA also performs clerical communication and other related duties to facilitate the efficient functioning of department services.

Responsibilities:
- Assists patients in routine activities of daily living including ambulation positioning skin care feeding and hygiene.
- Collects urine stool and sputum specimens and processes specimens as needed.
- Obtains and records weights vital signs including pulse oximetry pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professional.
- Performs incentive spirometry and transports patients.
- Prepares rooms provides post-mortem care and assists with admissions and discharges.
- Assists nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department specific responsibility).
- Answers unit phones and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs and notifies appropriate departments of equipment malfunctions.
- Cleans equipment.
- Donning and removing PPE.
- Isolation Precautions.
- Measure/record drain output.
- Measure/record weight.
- Routine Catheter Care (Indwelling and External Catheters).
- Stool specimen collection.
- Turning and positioning patient.
- Urine collection.
- Fluid restrictions.
- Labeling specimens and transport.
- Lifting and pulling proper body mechanics.
- Limb restrictions.
- Normal Vital signs parameters (Adult and Pedi).
- NPO status.
- Passive range of motion.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- CNA license
- AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire
