Job Summary:
The Environmental Laboratory Analyst 1 role involves working safely in a laboratory environment receiving and logging samples preparing samples for analysis maintaining supplies performing administrative duties and supporting customers. The position requires excellent communication skills attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures.
Location:Atlanta Georgia United States
Responsibilities
- Work safely and implement corrective actions for unsafe working conditions.
- Receive and log-in samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Prepare inorganic and organic samples for analysis using laboratory instrumentation and analytical methodology (EPA and ASTM).
- Order and maintain sample bottles and containers for environmental sampling.
- Perform routine laboratory housekeeping and assist Laboratory Analysts.
- Perform administrative duties such as supply inventory and ordering and peer review of data entry.
- Support customers with sample container orders coordinate sample sub-outs and contact customers to ensure accuracy with requested analysis.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
- Ability to interface with internal/external work groups and plant personnel.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Understanding of OSHA laboratory safety requirements under 40 CFR 1910.
- Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office suite (Excel Word etc ) instrument and data management software.
- Some college required (Science based studies preferred).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Associates or Bachelors preferred (Science based studies).
- Experience in a National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) or highly regulated laboratory environment.
- Experience in the Sample Receiving department of a high-volume laboratory.
- Wet chemistry experience (pH ammonia alkalinity turbidity etc ).
- Handling and preparing environmental samples for analysis according to EPA ASTM or other protocols.
