Job Summary

Job Description:

The General Surgeon will:

Provide comprehensive surgical care across inpatient outpatient and emergency department settings
Perform common general surgical procedures including:

Hernia repair
Cholecystectomy
Endoscopy
Appendectomy
Management of small bowel obstruction
Colorectal surgery
Skin and soft tissue surgical procedures

Deliver evaluation and management of acute and chronic wounds within the multidisciplinary Wound Clinic model
Provide expert diagnosis treatment and management of a wide range of surgical conditions
Exercise advanced operative skills and strong clinical judgment
Collaborate closely with:

Anesthesiologists
CRNAs
Physician Assistants
Perioperative and peri-anesthesia teams
Emergency Department clinicians
Hospitalists
Wound Clinic team

Educate patients and families regarding:

Surgical procedures
Risks and benefits
Post-operative care plans

Review diagnostic test results and address abnormalities
Offer surgical input for:

Palliative care
Pain management
End-of-life decision support

Participate in departmental meetings
Engage in ongoing professional development and training activities
Maintain compliance with OSHA Category I standards (bloodborne pathogen precautions)
