Sybase DBA Database Engineer

Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sybase DBA / Database Engineer with deep expertise in Sybase ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) and Sybase Transact-SQL. This role involves managing supporting upgrading and optimizing Sybase environments across on-premises and AWS cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Linux environments automation performance tuning and production support along with the ability to support multiple concurrent initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Sybase ASE databases in Linux-based environments.
• Manage Sybase deployments across on-premises infrastructure and AWS cloud.
• Perform Sybase database upgrades and migrations across different Linux versions in AWS environments.
• Configure and support replication setups and high availability (HA) environments.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform performance tuning and debugging.
• Implement and manage role-based access control (RBAC) and database encryption.
• Automate database functions such as backups monitoring and configuration management in AWS.
• Develop automation scripts using Unix Shell scripting and Python.
• Provide ongoing production support and ensure database stability and reliability.
• Deliver consulting support to internal stakeholders and business teams.

Required Qualifications

• 10 years of hands-on experience in Sybase Database Administration.
• Strong expertise in Sybase ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) and Sybase Transact-SQL.
• 10 years of experience supporting Sybase environments on Linux platforms.
• Experience supporting Sybase in both on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
• Proven experience with Sybase upgrades and migrations in AWS-based Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience with replication setup high availability (HA) and AutoSys scheduler.
• Strong experience in database automation using Unix Shell scripting and Python.
• Experience automating backups monitoring and database configurations in AWS.
• Hands-on experience supporting production environments.
