Position Overview

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide restorative and rehabilitative occupational therapy services. This role focuses on helping participants improve independence safety and daily living skills through personalized therapy programs delivered both at the center and in participants homes.

The COTA collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to implement treatment plans and provide updates on participant progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer treatment programs as established by the Occupational Therapist.

  • Assist with obtaining vital signs range of motion measurements and strength testing.

  • Implement therapy activities and programs based on individualized treatment plans.

  • Coordinate scheduling for therapy sessions clinical visits and related documentation.

  • Maintain therapy equipment and track maintenance requirements.

  • Deliver and document occupational therapy interventions according to established care plans.

  • Support therapies that improve muscle re-education cognitive and perceptual-motor function balance endurance and other skills necessary for activities of daily living (ADLs).

  • Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to ensure coordinated care for participants.

Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.

  • Valid California Occupational Therapy Assistant License or eligibility to obtain one.

  • Minimum of 2 years of Occupational Therapy Assistant experience in a clinical setting.

  • Experience working with frail or elderly populations with complex care needs.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Strong understanding of occupational therapy practices for geriatric participants.
