Job SummaryThe Part-Time Multilingual Learner (MLL) Family Liaison serves as a bridge between the school district and families of students identified as multilingual learners. The Liaison promotes strong home-school partnerships supports effective communication in families primary languages assists families in understanding school programs and procedures and helps remove barriers to student success. This position plays a critical role in fostering inclusive school environments supporting student achievement and strengthening family ResponsibilitiesNoneEssential FunctionsFamily Engagement & CommunicationServe as a primary point of contact for families of multilingual communication between school staff and families through interpretation and translation families in understanding district policies academic expectations and available programs and families in navigating enrollment scheduling transportation and other school and participate in family meetings including academic conferences and program reviews as proactive outreach to hard-to-reach with the district registrar regarding McKinney-Vento to support identification of multilingual learner students experiencing homelessness or housing SupportSupport the implementation of district multilingual learner in organizing family workshops informational sessions and community engagement with MLL teachers counselors and administrators to identify family needs and remove barriers to culturally responsive outreach to ensure equitable access to school CollaborationConnect families with community-based organizations and in developing partnerships that support multilingual learners and their knowledge of local services that may benefit families (i.e. health housing food assistance etc.).Recordkeeping and ComplianceMaintain accurate records of family outreach and engagement with documentation required for RIDE and federal multilingual learner program strict confidentiality of student and family Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBilingual (Spanish preferred).Understanding of culturally responsive family engagement to build trust with families from diverse organizational and time management to work independently and proficiency in technology to include Google Apps email and Online Calendar and Microsoft and ExperienceBachelors degree in education social services communications or related 1 year of relevant experience working in a school district or community-based experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive learning RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a to access and navigate all areas of the schools and other facilities as evening or weekend events to support family engagement or professional Duties The activities duties or responsibilities contained in this job description is not a comprehensive listing that are required of the employee.
