Position: Software & Controls Engineer
Location: 1100 W Entrance Auburn Hills MI
Duration: Long term contract
PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:
Controls software engineer for FANUC America robotic paint and sealer applications. Includes software development implementation testing and on site/in plant debug and runoff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for controls system software (PLC/HMI/GUI) design and implementation.
- Work with other controls engineers and /or supervise/train associate engineers working on projects.
- Work as part of an execution team and assume complete responsibility of system control function from start to finish of the project.
- Write controls specifications defining the functional scope of controls and the I/O requirements.
- Review and assist the electrical design process.
- Program and debug PLC programs.
- Write Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support integration on FAC floor.
- Support field installation startup and debugging of systems.
- Provide support for current systems.
- Travel to customer facilities for onsite debug.
- Hold customer training sessions as needed.
- Reliable consistent attendance required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Familiarity with various networking protocols
- PLC set-up and programming skills. Allen-Bradley Siemens Omron or Mitsubishi PLC experience is a plus.
- Experience with virtual commissioning software (Process Simulate Emulate3D) is a plus.
- High technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and pneumatic devices.
- Written and oral communication skills software specifications project status and technical information.
- Strong Interpersonal and leadership skills with emphasis on customer satisfaction.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Bachelors degree in electrical/computer engineering or related field or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum one year of PLC and/or PC software programming experience.
- Experience with systems engineering design assembly preferably related to robotic automation systems.
- Wiring/troubleshooting experience.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY
- Proper use of personal computer.
- Execution of on-site responsibilities requires significant amount of walking and standing on grating and concrete floors
VISUAL ACUITY HEARING SPEAKING
- Good visual acuity hearing and speaking is required.
ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING
- Scheduling can be 7 days per week on occasion.
- Willing to work overtime when required to meet special deadlines in response to customer requirements.
- Working in noisy and industrial/automotive environments at times.
- The ability to travel overnight for systems installations including overseas assignments.
