Description

Charlotte Latin School is seeking a Lower School (Grades TK-5) Physical Education teacher beginning in the 2026-27 school year. This position reports to the Physical Education K-12 Chair and is an integral part of the Lower School Division. This is a full-time ten-month position that begins in August of 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Physical Education Teacher & Athletics Team Coach

Teach Physical Education to elementary school students and demonstrate exercises to students
Communicate effectively with Department Chair and Division Head
Manage equipment used in classes
Maintain a safe environment
Work as a team with other teachers in the department including sharing space & equipment.
Help manage Lower School Playground
Attend department and division meetings
Coach one of the three athletic seasons
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in Physical Education or Health required
Three to five years of experience teaching elementary school Physical Education required
Experience teaching in an independent school preferred
Three to five years of experience coaching a sport preferred

Working Conditions and Environment

Intermittently lift carry push and pull up to 25 pounds
Continuously see sit balance grasp and have repetitive use of arms wrists hands and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity
Frequently talk and hear
Intermittently stand stoop bend twist crouch kneel crawl walk climb stairs and ladders operate foot and hand controls squeeze and reach above shoulders.
Exposure to dust chemicals fumes flammables grease dirt stacked materials electrical equipment machinery low to medium noise levels and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold
Outdoor work in hot and cold temperatures
Long or odd hours as needed
