We are looking for a

Sustainability Manager Europe (all genders)

to start as soon as possible in one of our European Linklaters offices preferably Germany.

The role

We are looking for a Sustainability Manager Europe who will drive the implementation of our regional sustainability strategy in line with our global priorities and deliver the required sustainability performance across Europe. You will operate across a diverse regional footprint covering multiple offices of different sizes and cultures to understand local challenges identify opportunities for best practice and further embed and professionalise our sustainability work.

Your key responsibilities

  • Work with subject matter experts in the global Sustainability Team (one of the firms Centres of Excellence) to agree regional priorities and projects for each financial year.
  • In close collaboration with Centre of Excellence colleagues design and execute multi-year roadmaps that meet global sustainability priorities through defined objectives and measurable milestones.
  • Works with colleagues in the Centre of Excellence and other key contacts across the firm including other regional leads to ensure consistency globally
  • Oversee implementation of projects required to prepare for certain regulatory disclosures.
  • Lead regional activity in environmental performance carbon reduction and supply chain engagement often through office-based colleagues and sometimes directly as regional lead.
  • Support regional social impact activity taking a leadership and advisory role with office-level social impact committees to enable impactful local volunteering and strategic use of the firms charitable donations ensuring global best practice standards are implemented.
  • Work with the Pro Bono Team (part of the Centre of Excellence) to facilitate the firms pro bono practice across the region including supporting lawyers to take part in the firms free legal advice programmes and ensuring relevant pro bono policies and processes are implemented across the region.
  • Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of sustainability programmes and projects working with Centre of Excellence colleagues to adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Report appropriately on regional sustainability activities including to CoE colleagues via internal communications and in direct client engagement
  • Represent the firm in external sustainability forums networks and conferences.

Your experience

  • At least five years experience in designing and implementing sustainability-related change strategies in a global or regional professional services environment preferably in the legal sector.
  • A strong track record of collaborating with global or regional stakeholders to develop sustainability roadmaps and define and track key performance indicators that support successful change adoption.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with proven ability to foster a positive sustainability-focused change culture across an organisation.
  • Strong networking skills and demonstrable experience of overcoming obstacles to implementation through collaborative working and influence rather than direct authority.
