Job Summary

Position Summary

An established engineering and design organization is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support building system design projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for converting conceptual or marked-up designs into detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD or Revit under the guidance of senior engineering staff. This role involves preparing electrical system layouts performing engineering calculations and supporting the design and documentation process for commercial and industrial building projects.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed electrical designs for a variety of building and facility projects.
Prepare update and maintain AutoCAD and Revit drawing packages.
Support electrical system design activities under the direction of senior engineering staff including:
- Lighting and power circuitry design
- Voltage drop calculations
- Short circuit calculations
- Interior and exterior lighting layouts
- Fixture specifications schedules and lighting calculations
- Low-voltage lighting control systems
- Electrical distribution design and single-line diagrams
- Utility coordination and interface requirements
- Fire alarm system layouts and calculations
- Low-voltage systems including data communications sound and security systems
- Emergency power and life safety system design
- Energy code compliance analysis
Participate in conceptual design development for assigned projects.
Ensure all work aligns with project schedules regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Maintain control of design-related activities including engineering accuracy quality control and code compliance.
Prepare design calculations and engineering documentation that meet project requirements and construction standards.
Coordinate with local building officials regarding regulatory compliance.
Support project teams with site visits inspections and technical reporting when required.
Assist with additional departmental tasks such as plotting drawings preparing transmittals and coordinating delivery of project documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering required.
(Other engineering or construction-related disciplines may be considered based on experience.)
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in electrical design engineering.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit required.
Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Demonstrated ability to produce clear and accurate technical documentation and engineering reports.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced project environment.
Capable of managing multiple assignments and meeting project deadlines with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams clients and external vendors.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites as required.
