Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location - Ithaca NY
Shift: Night Shift 3x12 Hours
Job Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is responsible for providing specialized care to newborns requiring intensive medical attention. The RN works collaboratively with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe compassionate and high-quality care to neonates and their families.
Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns in the NICU.
Perform ongoing assessment monitoring and evaluation of neonatal patients.
Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
Support the physical emotional and educational needs of families.
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
Operate and monitor NICU equipment and life-support systems.
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system.
Collaborate with neonatologists respiratory therapists and other healthcare professionals.
Education Requirements
Required Certifications
BLS (Basic Life Support) required upon hire.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required within 6 months of hire.
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 6 months of hire.
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required within 6 months of hire.
