M365 Security Administrator

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law preserve peace protect the people reduce fear and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships.

The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) oversees critical projects and technological initiatives within the NYPD. They maintain and enhance the departments IT infrastructure including networks servers and workstations. Notably ITSD has rolled out various advancements such as equipping officers with cellular phones applications and digitizing department forms to improve efficiency.

ITSD is seeking a qualified candidate in the position of IT Security Specialist to act as a M365 Security Administrator who will complete duties including but not limited to the following:

1. Manage comprehensive administration of Microsoft 365 suite including Exchange Online SharePoint Online OneDrive for Business and Teams; configure and maintain user accounts security settings and compliance features
2. Implement security measures within M365 leveraging tools like Microsoft Defender; manage security policies within Microsoft Defender for servers to align with security requirements and compliance standards
Microsoft Purview Information Protection establishing data classification labeling and encryption policies to secure sensitive information; lead the deployment of Microsoft Purview configure data governance compliance solutions and risk management policies across the organization
4. Manage eDiscovery processes using Microsoft Purview conducting legal holds searches and data exports to support compliance litigation and regulatory investigations across the organization
5. Manage SharePoint Online administration including site collections libraries lists and permissions; configure and maintain SharePoint sites and subsites for optimal performance; develop custom SharePoint applications using SharePoint Framework (SPFx) React Angular and Power Automate
6. Integrate Exchange Online with SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams; apply Transport Rules in Exchange Online to control email flow enforce encryption and implement data loss prevention (DLP) measures
7. Configure and monitor DLP policies in SharePoint preventing the unauthorized sharing of sensitive information
8. Leverage Microsoft Graph API to automate tasks such as user management mailbox configuration and reporting for SharePoint Teams and Exchange Online including developing custom applications and services
9. Implement Teams governance and security managing guest assess compliance and DLP measures; establish retention policies for Teams within the Microsoft 365 environment
10. Create and customize PowerShell scripts to streamline routine administrative tasks across the Microsoft 365 suite enhancing operational efficiency
11. Configure and manage OneDrive for Business to enhance file storage and sharing capabilities in mid-to-large-scale organizations
12. Deploy Microsoft Intune for Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM) centralize devices and application oversight across the organizations mobile platform

Qualifications :

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or

Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 above.
