We have an exciting full-time job opportunity as PARKS SPECIALIST II.

WHAT YOULL DO:In this role you will play an important part in maintaining repairing and renovating District grounds growing facilities trails athletic fields and facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide proper turf care including mowing edging trimming fertilizing aerating seeding irrigating and seasonal cleanup
  • Provide snow and ice removal from parking lots sidewalks and pathways
  • Provide proper tree and shrub care including planting watering pruning mulching removal and chipping
  • Apply pesticides for weed control
  • Empty trash receptacles and collect litter
  • Provide general park and facility maintenance and repairs as needed (cleanups custodial installations etc.)
  • Maintain walks lots and trail surfaces
  • Assist with athletic field maintenance
  • Perform and/or report the need for preventative maintenance repairs and cleaning of equipment and rolling stock
  • Keep all tools and equipment clean properly stored and in working order
  • Train and supervise seasonal staff


WHAT YOULL BRING:

  • High school or trade school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of experience in parks maintenance or similar field
  • A State of Illinois Pesticide Operators License and Class C drivers license are required within 6 months of hire.

WHEN YOULL WORK:

  • Monday through Friday from 6:30am-3:00pm with overtime for emergencies special events and snow removal.


WHAT YOULL GET:

  • For internal equity and budgetary considerations the anticipated starting pay for this non-exempt role is set at $45516/year.
  • This position is classified under Pay Grade 2 with a salary range of $45516 to $63723.
