Nemours is seeking a 5 days/week (32 hours) Child Life Activity Coordinator to join the team! The Child Life Activity Coordinator is responsible for (1) plan and execute daily activities and special events that are recreational as well as therapeutic for patients and their families while adhering to all safety and infection prevention guidelines (2) support and assist with the planning of proper staffing coordination of Associates and Volunteer resources for activities and special events and (3) promote family centered care and patient/family experience through engagement in activities and collaboration with department leadership the Child Life Activity Coordinator contributes as a member of the child life team to annual goals projects and programs. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by employees manager.

Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) and effectively navigate fast paced demanding environments while maintaining high level of customer service.
  2. Hold strong competence in child life philosophy ensuring alignment with departmental mission and vision.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in the care and development of children of all ages while understanding how to individualize care for each patient.
  4. Collaborate with other departments or groups when applicable (Volunteer Department Security Creative Arts identified community partners). Manage and develop relationships with community members who engage in our group entertainment and special event programming.
  5. Maintain all play environments in accordance to safe space philosophy and maintain cleanliness and order in the physical environment where programing is implemented.
  6. Develop manage and implement patient and family programming into daily routines at AIDHC. Ensure that activities programs and events are developmentally appropriate psychosocially sound and patient/family-centered.
  7. Ensure all volunteers are oriented appropriately to department / role as well as to event guidelines and procedures.
  8. Promote activities and events that values diversity equity and inclusion and represent all ages and abilities.
  9. Serve as a representative of the hospital and department articulating the therapeutic and clinical nature of the work done by department staff.
  10. Remain up to date and current with all Nemours education and requirements including but not limited to Privacy and Confidentiality safety and infection prevention procedures compliance etc

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required
  • History of programming and supervising children required
  • Experience facilitating programs and events with hospitalized children and families preferred
