Job Summary

ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH JOB

Gr New Bedford Regional Voc Tech High School

This position is responsible for supporting the Head Coach with all assigned duties and coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline character development sportsmanship and teamwork in the sport of football.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
  2. Exhibits loyalty to the Head Coach and GNBVT sports programs.
  3. Assists instruction and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in the sport of football.
  4. Assists in planning and setting-up activities and practices.
  5. Respects time allotted to football practices as determined by the Head Coach.
  6. Travels with student athletes on the team bus both to and from meets.
  7. Maintains necessary records and completes required paperwork in a specified time and manner.
  8. Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
  9. Supervises students in locker rooms at home and away meets and ensures appropriate behavior.
  10. Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times.
  11. Ensures that medical and safety requirements are followed.
  12. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students staff parents fellow coaches and officials and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  13. Appropriately maintains and secures confidential student records and inquiries.
  14. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with student parents community staff and the media
  15. Completes and maintains appropriate certifications as required including MIAA Coaches Certification requirements.
