AECOM is seeking a Design Architect to join our growing Buildings Places Architecture team in British Columbia.
Working under the Supervising Architect you will lead teams in the design of projects from concept through to construction with a focus on design and technical excellence. You will be part of a global cross-disciplinary team serving a variety of clients and project types.

Major Responsibilities:
- Strong hands-on technical knowledge
- Document review and inter-disciplinary coordination
- Develop or assist in the development of studies programs concepts preliminary and final plans and specifications for projects of varying type and scale
- Prepare review and approve drawing specification and other documentation as required. These will range from design presentations documents to technical documents for building permit tender and construction
- Ensure designs are developed in compliance with client program of requirements and in compliance with local codes standards and applicable regulations
- Ensure designs are developed in accordance with AECOM processes design and quality standards
- Lead project coordination with multi-disciplinary teams both internal to AECOM and external
- Interface with clients authorities and other project participants as needed to achieve a successful project
- Work with AECOM design offices across the country including participation in project teams and overall development of the design and technical quality of AECOM projects
- Knowledge of building systems and coordination of building systems design
- Checks own work and the work of others
- Knowledge and familiarity with building codes
- Team player with the ability to work within a team environment
- Experience in field review and contract administration
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualification:
To be considered for this position candidates must meet the below requirement at a very minimum:
- A University Degree in Architecture plus four years (4) of experience working within an Architectural practice including experience within an Architectural practice in British Columbia
- Familiarity with the B-1.1 Building Act notably the applications of the BC Construction Code along with other pertinent codes and regulations.
- Licensed Architect in British Columbia or in the process of obtaining license.
- Proficiency in Autodesk REVIT AutoCAD and the suites MS Office and Adobe Creative.
- Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer 6 8 years of experience working within an Architectural practice including experience within an Architectural practice in Québec.
- Familiarity with researching local zoning and other bylaws requirements for local jurisdictions and application to project requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Experience in institutional transit public safety/defence heritage and industrial projects.
- Sustainable Design experience including zero carbon design and familiarity with the CAGBC Zero Carbon Building program.
- Experience in delivering projects in an Integrated Design Process (IDP) environment
- Experience in delivering projects with the use of a construction management software such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
- Certifications in LEED WELL PASSIVE HOUSE or similar accreditation
- Proficiency in rendering presentation and analytical software such as SketchUp Grasshopper Rhino
