The Role

The school is seeking an experienced and committed Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead the development and implementation of the schools SEND strategy.

The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure high-quality provision for students with additional needs. This role will involve managing interventions overseeing support staff and ensuring compliance with statutory SEND requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the SEND provision across the school
Identify students requiring additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions
Work closely with teachers to ensure effective differentiation within lessons
Manage and support teaching assistants and support staff
Coordinate EHCP applications annual reviews and documentation
Liaise with parents carers and external agencies
Maintain accurate SEND records and provision maps
Monitor the progress of SEND students and evaluate interventions
Provide staff training and guidance on inclusive teaching strategies
Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and safeguarding procedures

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to obtain)
Experience working with SEND students in a secondary school
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
