Job Summary

This is an opportunity in Mental Health Hospitalist Medicine.

The position would involve a unique team approach to inpatient care where Mental Health Hospitalists provide comprehensive compassionate high-quality care which involves patients as active participants in their own care.  All aspects of the position would require the physician to work with multi-disciplinary teams in an enthusiastic manner with the capacity for self-direction.

This is a 0.8 FTE position. There would be the opportunity to work an additional 0.2 FTE with the correction services. Base compensation is pro-rated to FTE level and is in alignment with the APP contract.


Qualifications :

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

  • Medical degree and current registration or eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia 
  • Possession of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) designation or equivalent or eligibility to sit for the CFPC examination
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to maintain clear records of patient evaluations and clinical thought process 
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Must be eligible for medical staff privileges with the Nova Scotia Health Authority
