Rate of Pay: 18.82 - 24.78 per hour
Summary:
An experienced Fleet Workshop Manager is required to lead the delivery of maintenance repair MOT testing and inspection services for Plymouth City Councils fleet operations. This senior operational role involves managing workshop services ensuring full compliance with VOSA regulations and the Councils Operator Licence and delivering safe efficient and customer-focused fleet services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of approximately 14 operational staff
- Oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance inspections and MOT testing
- Manage a service budget of approximately 750k
- Ensure full compliance with road transport legislation and VOSA requirements
- Manage the Councils MOT station and commercial workshop operations
- Deliver income-generating commercial services to external clients
Qualifications:
- GCSE Grade A*C (94) in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Vehicle Technician qualification (or equivalent experience)
- IOSH qualification (or equivalent in Health & Safety)
Essential Requirements:
- Significant experience managing a vehicle workshop or garage service
- Strong understanding of Road Transport Law and Operator Licence compliance
- Experience managing MOT testing services
- Budget management and commercial service experience
- Knowledge of ICT systems (Word Excel workshop systems)
- Full UK driving licence
