Job Summary
Full-Time and Permanent; Non-Exempt; 8 Hours/Day; 252 Days/Year; 12 Months/Year; Grade PP
Performs advanced master-level and lead HVAC duties related to the installation modification and repair of commercial heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and controls. Serves as a crew leader and performs related work as required. Work is performed at schools centers offices shops or fixed sites. While duties follow established procedures independent judgment is exercised in completing assigned tasks.
General Responsibilities

Oversee and participate in the work of a small team performing skilled journey-level refrigeration and HVAC duties on interior and exterior building systems.

Install repair and maintain commercial non-boiler fired HVAC systems and associated equipment in accordance with applicable building mechanical plumbing fire electrical codes and safety regulations.

Perform water analysis and chemical treatment of chillers and cooling towers in open and closed loop systems.

Troubleshoot test repair maintain and modify HVAC systems (up to 720 tons) including piping tubing freon and gas pressure systems ductwork and electrical and gas control panels.

Operate and maintain hand and power tools such as volt ohm and amperage meters; temperature and humidity testing equipment; gas leak detectors; pressure gauges; freon charging and recovery equipment; and welding equipment (brazing arc and gas).

Use ladders and scaffolding as required.

Ensure proper maintenance of tools and equipment and maintain a safe work environment.

Drive a vehicle to and from work locations maintain vehicle inventory of tools and materials and perform routine vehicle maintenance.

Maintain records and prepare reports of completed work and materials used.
License/Certification Requirements

Certificate of Asbestos Training.

Master HVAC Mechanical Certification (state).

Master Gas Fitter Certificate (state).
-
Level 2 PSI Natural Gas Certificate (Virginia Natural Gas Company) and manufacturer certifications as required for specific equipment.

Valid automotive vehicle operators license.
