Staff Design Researcher

The opportunity

EY has the largest consumer insight and experience design practices across the major professional services firms in the region. As an end-to-end insights practice within EY we do things differently and work on some of the most challenging and interesting projects around for commercial and government clients.

As the pace of change accelerates for both commercial and government sector clients the role of insight in driving decision-making and inspiring change has gone up a level. The EY GDS Design team work closely with EY colleagues across a wide range of disciplines with a focus on helping clients transform what they do. We are also behind some of the flagship global pieces of thought leadership produced by the firm.

We are looking for people who are passionate about what they do ambitious about where they want to head in their career and committed to making a difference for clients.

Your Key Responsibility

  • Proven experience applying the right research methodologies and statistical reasoning
  • Demonstrable expertise conducting end-to-end research studies; planning recruitment execution analysis and delivery - ideally in the context of product or service design
  • You are capable of judging methodological validity for a given research need and know how to get the most out of a project with constraints
  • Have worked as part of cross functional teams championing insight positively challenge assumptions unpicking ambiguous contexts and defining problems to solve
  • You can perform statistical analysis of quantitative results including filtering outliers and social demographic cross comparisons

Skills and abilities we are looking for

MSc in UX Human Factors Psychology or related disciplines is preferred

  • 5-7 years experience in a research role with experience across qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to derive personas from user interviews focus groups and other qual methods along with an assessment of business practices
  • Proven experience communicating research results in a compelling manner translating technical and complicated inputs into clear summaries and telling a story with the data
  • Excellent desk research skills and the ability to effectively derive relevant information and to judge sources credibility including the ability to critically evaluate research papers and findings
  • Ability to use SPSS or similar programme to interrogate quant data and visualise results and to query databases using MySQL is a plus
