Academic Instructional Coach (With a focus on English Language Arts & Mathematics)Reports To: Director of Curriculum & Student AchievementFLSA Status: ExemptGrades: Prek-12Work Year: School Year up to 5 summer DaysPosition Summary:The Instructional Coach for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics provides job-embedded professional support to teachers to strengthen curriculum implementation instructional practices and assessment literacy. This work is carried out in support of the curriculum leadership to ensure alignment and shared responsibility for student coach works collaboratively with building and district leadership professional staff and relevant stakeholders to improve student achievement through data-informed decision-making research-based instructional strategies and aligned curriculum is a non-evaluative role focused on professional growth capacity building continuous improvement and shared Responsibilities:1. Curriculum LeadershipIn collaboration with teachers administrators and curriculum leaders:-Support implementation of district ELA and Math curricula.-Collaborate to unpack standards prioritize learning targets and ensure vertical and horizontal alignment.-Facilitate the integration of literacy across content areas where appropriate.-Support the adoption and rollout of new instructional materials and resources.2. Instructional CoachingIn partnership with teachers curriculum team members and administrators:-Provide job-embedded coaching through modeling co-planning co-teaching and observation/feedback cycles.-Promote research-based instructional strategies in ELA and Math.-Support differentiated instruction and MTSS/RTI frameworks.-Assist teachers in strengthening questioning strategies discourse and student engagement practices.-Develop teacher capacity in small-group instruction and differentiated practices.3. Assessment & Data LiteracyWorking collaboratively with teachers administrators and data teams:-Support implementation of formative and summative assessments aligned to curriculum.-Assist in analyzing student performance data (benchmark common assessments state assessments).-Facilitate data meetings focused on instructional adjustments and targeted interventions.-Support progress monitoring systems for intervention and enrichment.4. Professional LearningIn coordination with district and building leadership:-Collaborate on the design and delivery of professional development aligned to district goals in ELA and Math.-Provide training on instructional strategies assessment practices and curriculum updates.-Support new teachers in content-specific instructional practices.5. Collaboration & LeadershipAs part of the broader curriculum leadership team:-Collaborate with building and district leadership to align instructional priorities.-Serve as a resource for evidence-based practices in literacy and mathematics.-Support school improvement planning related to academic achievement.-Engage stakeholders in continuous improvement efforts.-Stay current with research and best practices in ELA and Math instruction.-Support building based coaches in the development of coaching systems for early Principles of the Role:-The coach is non-evaluative and maintains confidentiality in coaching relationships.-Coaching is collaborative strengths-based and growth-oriented.-All work is aligned to improving student outcomes.-The position builds long-term instructional capacity through shared leadership rather than providing short-term fixes.-The role operates through partnership with educators administrators and stakeholders to ensure coherence and sustainability.
