The purpose of the role is to support the laboratory by preparing sameples conducting standard mechanical tests recording results accurately writing result reports and ensuring the laboratory remains safe clean and compliant with internal and external standards.

The purpose of the role is to support the laboratory by preparing sameples conducting standard mechanical tests recording results accurately writing result reports and ensuring the laboratory remains safe clean and compliant with internal and external standards.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare samples for testing (cutting measuring tagging and recording).
- Conduct routine tests such as tensile testing torsion testing bend tests weight of coat etc.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment ( wire tensile tester fatigue testingmachine microscopes etc.).
- Record all test results accurately in logs databases and reports.
- Flag abnormal or out-of-spec results to R&D Engineer.
- Support quality investigations by providing samples data and test results.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping according to internal standards.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated according to schedules or report when calibration is due.
- Follow all safety procedures and ensure PPE is used correctly.
- Perform other lab-related tasks assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Maths and Science.
- High level of English proficiency (reading writing and speaking).
- Technical certificate or diploma in Materials Testing Mechanical Engineering Metallurgy or related
- field.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and metallurgical testing.
- Ability to use measuring tools (callipers micrometre gauge etc.).
- Advanced computer literacy (Excel Word data entry file management).
