Job Summary

Education & Certifications:
Minimum Education
- Masters Degree (Required)
- Bachelors Degree (acceptable with required experience)
Certifications & Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of blood bank experience in a laboratory environment (preferred)
- Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory science training program
Required Skills (Listed by Priority):
1. Technical Blood Bank & Immunohematology Expertise
- Compatibility (crossmatch) testing
- Resolution of RBC blood group antibody problems
- Component manufacturing (plasma leukoreduced RBC platelets)
- Evaluation of transfusion orders
- Perform laboratory testing (pre-analytical analytical post-analytical phases)
2. Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Perform testing per regulatory and accrediting agency requirements
- Monitor operational procedures
- Perform quality assurance functions
3. Analytical & Data Interpretation Skills
- Interpret research or operational data
- Record research data
- Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment
4. Communication Skills
- Communicate with nurses and physicians to clarify transfusion/testing orders
- Strong oral and written communication skills
5. Organizational & Time Management
- Excellent analytical organizational and time management skills
- Manage blood inventory
- Maintain laboratory samples and equipment
