Your role and responsibilities

  • Although working across a wide range of organisations your main duties will focus on working with developers to make it easier for people to choose walking cycling or public transport for local journeys from / to new developments.

  • Provide advice and guidance to the local planning authorities on proposals for new developments to ensure that a commit to sustainable travel is included within any planning permissions granted and then to ensure that the developers and / or their agents are held accountable to those commitments.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders and partners to ensure that your work reflects the needs of all and that there is an inclusive approach to this. This includes Public Health Children & Young People and the District Councils.

  • You will have the opportunity to be innovative and forward thinking in your approach to your workload and develop relationships with a wide range of colleagues.

  • Work as part of a team within Transport Strategy and the wider Growth Highways and Infrastructure Directorate where your work will contribute directly to the priorities of the Council.

  • Work with developers residents and schools to deliver effective activities and interventions. This a key element within the Suffolk Local Transport Plan

You will need

  • An understanding of travel plans or the planning system or experience of working with Local Planning Authorities would be desirable.

  • To demonstrate experience of successful partnership working have an understanding of local travel options and be committed to the promotion of active and sustainable travel.

  • To take forward project work with minimum supervision be able to work well with others both in the team and your wider contacts and be self-motivated and have the ability to successfully motivate others.
