About the Opportunity

Inalab has an immediate opening for a Operational Database Specialist/General Engineer to support NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Dissemination (W/DISS) under the System Engineering and Analysis Support Services Contract. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) consecutive years of experience directly integratingand managing complex multi-variant databases.

Essential Responsibilities:

Perform Database tasks on the NWS dissemination systems such as NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR) NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS) International Services and Communication Systems (ISCS) Emergency Managers Weather Information Network (EMWIN) and All Hazards Collection System (HazCollect) Legacy (HCL).
Develop maintain access and correct databases.
Perform accurate database entries corrections and use in mapping efforts for NWR sites and charts.
Perform and contribute to the team effort in resolving all DST tasking and meeting performance objectives.
Provide weekly feedback to the Team Lead and Government Task Manager(s) on assigned tasks noting any schedule or deliverable variances.
Provide articulate well written responses tailored to the intended audience to include responses to public inquires Standard Operating Procedures documentation to accompany detailed reports and other ad hoc documentation as requested.
Make minor additions (add text) to the website.

Qualifications:

Excellent written and verbal English communication at levels from novice to expert.
4-year degree in Engineering (preferred)
5-7 years of experience in General Engineering
Ability to function well as part of a team

Experienced with Microsoft Excel:

Pivot tables
Lookup tables
Selection (dropdown) lists
Ability to manipulate and export data

Experienced with Microsoft Access

Develop and maintain relational tables
Lookup tables
Develop complex queries from multiple tables
Normalize data to improve efficiency
Scripting to create queries to update data and generate reports

Desired Experience:

Scripting (Python Perl)
Functional knowledge of HTML Javascript
Experience with GIS
