DescriptionThis is a full-time position. The apprentice assists with various aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Pre-College Program. The apprentice has exposure to key elements of performance and academic activities including ensemble management admissions juries and concert production and provides general office support. This position works with students ages 8-18. Duties in the Music Advancement Program may be assigned as needed.
Compensation:
The salary is $18.50 per hour for 40 weeks or a contracted amount of $29600.00 for the school year.

This program provides immersive training for emerging performing arts technicians and administrators addressing the need for practical training in the field. For over four decades it has prepared recent graduates early-career professionalsand individuals undergoing career transitions for employment in the cultural sector. This is achieved through hands-on experience professional development and networking and mentorship opportunities.

Performance Activities
- Ensemble Management
- Serve as the orchestral personnel manager - working with staff conductors musicians and work-study teams to support rehearsals and performances.
- Track weekly student absences for each ensemble communicating personnel issues to the conductor coordinating substitute players updating rehearsal orders and making announcements to the orchestras as needed.
- Working with the Director and Manager of Performance Activities produce and maintain accurate and up to date orchestra personnel rosters.
- Administration
- Create weekly set-up memos to distribute to internal departments tracking and recording space and equipment needs of ensembles and personnel.
- Coordinate room reservations creation of a detailed schedule and hiring proctors for 3 annual orchestra seating auditions.
- Track issues or infractions affecting a students ensemble grade reporting to the Director of Performance Activities and Director of Admissions and Academic Affairs.
- Production and Technical Support
- Design and maintain up to date stage diagrams timelines and program information for concert production and operations staff.
- Assist library staff as needed in rehearsals and concerts.
- Maintain and update each ensembles digital library in coordination with the Performance Activities staff and library staff.
Admissions Academic Affairs and General Office Support
- Admissions and Academic Affairs
- Assist in the planning and execution of auditions admissions and juries including hiring pianists and responding to admissions inquiries in multiple email inboxes.
- Assist the Admissions and Academic Affairs Coordinator with registering students for classes each semester.
- Serve as the hiring manager for college mentors coaches and classroom assistants troubleshooting needs approving timecards and other duties as needed.
- Communication Information Management and General Support
- Maintain digital student records update information on MyJuilliard and manage digital media content.
- Distribute weekly announcements to faculty parents and students using MailChimp.
- Maintain course content for ensemble classes on Canvas posting rehearsal schedules updates and other relevant information.
- Bachelors Degree or related professional experience and transferable skills or a combination of both.
- Background in music performance education or artistic administration
- Knowledge of orchestral repertoire
- Ability to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel
- Administrative and ensemble management experience
- Experience and interest in working with musicians ages 8-18
- All Juilliard performances are free to Juilliard employees.
