Job Duties:

Academic Teaching Staffwill teach undergraduate courses in the department at a 4-4 teaching load servingas an instructor of recordandsupportingquality student learning.These arenon-tenure track renewable positions.Title and salarywill bedeterminedby teaching experience at the time of hire.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements.

  • Develop teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy.

  • Responsible for implementing teaching techniques and carrying out instructional goals in disciplinary area.

  • Teach four classes per semester (classes may include Communor upper division classes based on qualifications and departmental need; courses may be face-to-face or online depending on departmental need).

  • Provide classroom online and/or laboratory instruction including grading.

  • Assist in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties.

Department:

As an academic unit of the College of Letters and Science and program within the Department of Communication the Communication Program is committed to the colleges mission of helping students develop critical open minds by exposing them to humanistic and social scientific knowledge. The study of communication provides students with a broad range of critical skills such as thinking analytically communicating competently and adapting to diverse dynamic social and intellectual pursuing the universitys goals the Department of Communication attempts to empower students by developing their abilities to understand analyze engage in appreciate and manage communication.

The educational mission of UWMs Department of Communication is to graduate majors who will be able to: (1) Design and deliver effective oral and written communication to both expert and lay audiences (2) Conduct independent research that analyzes existing relevant scholarship integrates existing scholarship with ones own findings and describes ones research in written and oral form and (3) Effectively obtain evaluate and use information relevant to ones purpose.

Compensation:

$30355 - $46555

(Final salary offer will be determined based on qualifications and experience)

Required Qualifications:

  • Record of excellent undergraduate teachingin Communication.

  • Ability and willingness to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues.

  • Ability to adapt to different modes of teaching includingin-person andonline teaching.

  • M.A. in Communication or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Communication or related discipline.
