Job Description Associate Architect (ServiceNow)
Role Overview
The Associate ServiceNow Architect supports the design and implementation of enterprise ServiceNow solutions. This role requires strong hands-on experience with the ServiceNow platform including core capabilities App Engine Studio and exposure to domain solutions such as Sourcing & Procurement Ops and Financial Services Operations.
The Associate Architect partners with senior architects business stakeholders developers and IT teams to translate business requirements into scalable well-architected ServiceNow solutions that align with enterprise standards and deliver measurable business value.
Roles and Responsibilities
Solution Design & Architecture Support
- Collaborate with Senior Architects to design scalable and sustainable ServiceNow solutions.
- Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs and solution blueprints.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and provide recommendations aligned with platform best practices.
- Support integration design between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems using REST SOAP and other integration patterns.
Platform Development & Implementation
- Lead and support development activities using App Engine Studio and other ServiceNow development tools.
- Configure and customize ServiceNow applications in alignment with defined architecture standards.
- Contribute to the implementation of specialized modules such as:
- Sourcing & Procurement Operations
- Financial Services Operations
- Customer Service Management
- Legal Services Delivery
- Participate in instance upgrades testing and remediation activities.
Governance & Best Practices
- Ensure solutions follow ServiceNow development best practices and internal governance standards.
- Support code reviews technical documentation and solution validation.
- Promote performance optimization maintainability and scalability in all implementations.
- Assist in maintaining architectural artifacts and design documentation.
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Act as a technical lead for small to mid-sized initiatives or workstreams.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to developers and junior team members.
- Work closely with business analysts product owners and delivery teams to ensure successful outcomes.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings to provide technical insights and recommendations.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay current with ServiceNow platform releases and emerging capabilities.
- Recommend improvements to existing implementations to enhance performance and user experience.
- Contribute innovation initiatives by evaluating new modules features and low-code capabilities.
Skills and Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow core platform and App Engine Studio.
- Working knowledge of domain solutions such as:
- Sourcing & Procurement Ops
- Financial Services Operations
- Customer Service Management
- Legal Services Delivery
- Proficiency in JavaScript HTML and CSS.
- Experience with integrations (REST SOAP MID Server).
- Experience with Flow Designer Integration Hub and Service Portal/UI Builder preferred.
Architectural & Analytical Skills
- Ability to design scalable and maintainable ServiceNow solutions under guidance.
- Strong understanding of platform configuration vs customization decisions.
- Good problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to interpret enterprise architecture standards and apply them effectively.
Communication & Collaboration
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important.
- Ability to engage with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Ability to balance hands-on development with architectural responsibilities.
Experience & Educational Background
- Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or related field.
- 8 years of overall IT experience.
- 46 years of hands-on ServiceNow implementation experience.
- ServiceNow certifications such as:
- Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- Certified Implementation Specialist (preferred)
Preferred Skills
- Experience in consulting or enterprise-scale ServiceNow implementations.
- Exposure project delivery methodologies and stakeholder management.
- Understanding UX principles and ServiceNow UI/UX capabilities.
- Agile or Scrum certification is a plus.
- Exposure to other low-code/no-code platforms such as Appian Mendix or OutSystems is advantageous.
