Westlake Academy is a K-12 open-enrollment public charter school operated by the Town of Westlake Texas. The Academy is committed to academic excellence and global-mindedness through its International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The school fosters a culture of inquiry collaboration and innovation to develop well-rounded students prepared for leadership roles in a dynamic and interconnected world.
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the High School Principal the High School Mathematics teacher provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Faculty members are expected to uphold the principles of the IB curriculum while fostering a rigorous engaging and student-centered learning environment. We are especially interested in teachers with a background in Geometry and the ability to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme course: Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics Education or a related field
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification in the applicable content area is preferred. Selected candidates who do not hold a valid certification must obtain appropriate certification or credential within one year of hire to be considered for continued employment.
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and its emphasis on inquiry international-mindedness and academic rigor
- Excellent communication collaboration and organizational skills
- Demonstrate ability to engage students in meaningful and innovative learning experiences
- Is legally able to work in the United States.
- Must complete the state-required fingerprinting and criminal background check.
Priority will be given to applicants who possess:
- Masters degree in Mathematics Education or related field
- Knowledge of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs
- 1-3 years of experience in an IB World School
- IBEN Member

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons that align with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and/or Diploma Programme (DP) framework.
- Develop and implement student-centered inquiry-based learning experiences that foster critical thinking communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and align instruction with IB standards.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social emotional and academic needs of all students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and support student learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge of IB philosophy and pedagogy.
- Communicate effectively with students parents and colleagues to support student success
OTHER DUTIES
Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the direct supervisor.
