This position will report to a Principal or designee level staff member within our Building Envelope
division and will involve a variety of general functions including but not limited to:
- Understand exterior wall construction project phases including but not limited to shop drawing modeling design development and construction documents
- Conduct field reviews and perform progress inspections on designated projects which may include inspections conducted from the exterior of buildings utilizing suspended scaffolds ladders boom lifts scissor lifts and other elevated access equipment as required.
- Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity
- Ensure familiarity with building codes in local markets
- Advise Project manager on status scheduling effort of work and estimates for completion
- Communicate effectively and establish strong working relationships with clients and project-related management teams. Inspectors are expected to remain reasonably accessible via phone email or text outside of regular business hours to respond to urgent job site requests including but not limited to emergency site visits active leak investigations weather-related events or other time-sensitive conditions that may require immediate attention.
- Providing cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed
- Maintain detailed documents and progression of work from initial proposal through completion
- Present project related technical information to clients and design teams
- Occasional presentation of white papercase studies to technical teams
- Attend in-house seminars and scheduled team meetings
- Maintain established utilization levels
- Support junior technicians or entry level staff
- Carry equipment up to 50 pounds
- Perform all duties as assigned by your manager
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 1-3 years working with building envelope design inspection development and/or engineering
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Architectural Civil or Mechanical preferred)
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred or Engineering Intern (EI) designation in accordance with the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
- Knowledge of broad architectural design theories/concepts and specific structural theories/concepts related to exterior wall construction
- Experience using measurement devices
- Minimum 10 hour OSHA certification preferred
- ICC certifications preferred
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent PC computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word or suitable document writing programs
- Must demonstrate an ability to work in a dynamic team environment to think outside the box and solve complex problems
- Ability to be detail-oriented as well as see the bigger picture
