The Brantford Police Service is currently accepting applications for a Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) students.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) is an eight-week summer employment program funded by the Ministry of Children Community Social Services and the Brantford Police Services Board. The YIPI program is designed to provide youth with valuable experiences where you can learn and contribute to your community. This program offers students the unique opportunity to work alongside members of the Brantford Police Service where you will gain knowledge about policing and law enforcement while participating in community engagement opportunities.
To be eligible for the program you must meet the following criteria:
- be between the ages of 15-18 years old
- be a full-time high school student within the City of Brantford
- reside within the City of Brantford
- be legally allowed to work in Canada
- have no criminal record.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What to expect:
- Designed for students who have had little to no previous exposure to policing
- Opportunities to engage with community organizations
- A fast paced hands-on learning environment
As a YIPI participant you will be actively involved in a range of community-based activities and initiatives such as delivering presentations and workshops supporting fundraising efforts and engaging in public outreach. YIPI students will also have opportunities to connect with local organizations and work alongside members of the Brantford Police Service
In addition to community engagement YIPI offers students an inside look at the diverse roles within policing. This hands-on exposure helps participants better understand law enforcement collaboration and the importance of public service.
