The Wolf School an innovative independent lower and middle school for children with multiple learningchallenges is currently recruiting a classroom teacher for its Summer Wolf School a small independent day school in East Providence Rhode Island was founded in 1999 toprovide a unique educational environment for children with multiple learning differences in grades K-8. Thegoal was to create a school that would provide children with the opportunity to reach their full academic andsocial potential. The founding members of the Board including educators clinical specialists and a familycreated a model that emphasizes the development of core grade-level skills taught through a therapeuticallyguided curriculum. As a result our students make significant gains academically and summer program Camp Confidence blends our innovative Immersion Model classroom with the spiritof a traditional summer camp creating an engaging supportive and enriching experience for our week features a new theme that drives both academics and enrichment activities. Mornings focus onsmall-group academic instruction aligned with students IEP or Learning Plan goals while afternoons are filledwith experiential Summary of Job:As the classroom teacher you will lead a team of educators (i.e. SLP OT and Teaching Assistant) developand implement individualized hands-on thematic lessons and communicate with Duties & Responsibilities:Work with occupational therapists speech therapists and teaching assistants to plan hands-on thematicreading writing and math lessons that integrate speech OT sensory and social componentsWork with and/or plan for teaching assistantsWork with occupational therapists speech therapists and teaching assistants to carry out studentIEP/Learning Plan goals within Wolfs Immersion ModelImplement positive reinforcement systems and behavior management techniquesSupport and attend planned afternoon enrichment activities (i.e. Field Day swimming etc.)Maintain documentation and data collection as neededCommunicate with and update families on a regular basisComplete a Summer Summary to inform fall classroom teamSkills & Abilities:Creative thinker and planner with an ability to create lessons and activities relating to pre-determinedweekly themesStrong planning and time management skills with an ability to manage multiple prioritiesPossess good organizational skills and be able to implement these effectivelyMust take initiative and find creative ways to problem-solveAbility to work on a team and ask for help and support when neededMaintain an attitude that encourages teamwork & personal responsibilityBe open to giving and receiving feedback have strong interpersonal skills that support and engender trustAbility to establish rapport with students and families
