At Aftonbladet millions of people rely on our journalism every day. As part of the Performance team youll help ensure our editorial and commercial platforms are fast scalable and ready to meet both breaking news and long-term product innovation.

Were now looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys building high-quality solutions and collaborating closely with Product UX and newsroom stakeholders.

Fluency in Swedish (spoken and written) is required for this role as you will work closely with Swedish-speaking newsroom stakeholders on a daily basis.

What youll do

Develop and maintain services within our editorial and commercial domains
Take ownership of features from idea to production
Collaborate with Product UX and newsroom teams to translate needs into scalable technical solutions
Write clean secure and testable code
Contribute to architectural discussions and technical improvements
Balance rapid delivery under tight deadlines with long-term maintainability

Youll work across the full development lifecycle from planning and implementation to deployment and continuous improvement.

Our tech environment

You dont need to know everything on day one but experience with parts of our stack is important:

(backend services)
JavaScript / TypeScript
Svelte and/or React
CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
AWS
Docker
SQL databases

We also use AI-assisted development tools as part of our engineering workflow.

Who you are

You have at least three years of relevant professional experience in software development.

We believe you:

Have solid experience building applications in JavaScript/TypeScript
Have worked with and modern frontend frameworks
Understand APIs backend services and system integration
Are comfortable working with cloud environments and CI/CD
Care about performance maintainability and security
Are fluent in Swedish (spoken and written) as collaboration with newsroom stakeholders requires it
