Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Project Engineer II to join our shared services team.
The Project Engineer II is a mid-level post-sales engineering role responsible for independently managing engineering deliverables for mid to large-sized low-voltage systems projects. This position leads the preparation of technical documentation submittal packages and drawings while coordinating with project managers field teams and other engineering resources to ensure successful project execution. The Project Engineer II applies advanced technical knowledge to design and document systems in compliance with project requirements industry standards and company best practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Engineering Design & Documentation
- Independently develop and produce complete engineering documentation packages including detailed drawings submittals and equipment schedules that meet project specifications and company standards
- Review and verify design accuracy and completeness ensuring compliance with applicable codes industry standards and customer requirements to uphold quality safety and performance
- Assist with change orders and value engineering by analyzing design alternatives and collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement practical cost-effective solutions.
- Coordinate with design teams and stakeholders to integrate revisions and updates promptly maintaining up-to-date documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Perform technical reviews and quality checks on engineering deliverables to minimize errors and support smooth project execution
Project Coordination & Communication
- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for assigned projects facilitating clear timely communication between internal teams clients contractors and other external stakeholders to ensure alignment and project success
- Coordinate with project managers field supervisors and other engineering resources to align design deliverables with project timelines installation schedules and changing site conditions
- Organize and participate in project meetings and progress reviews documenting action items and ensuring follow-up on engineering-related tasks
- Communicate design changes technical clarifications and updates effectively to all relevant parties to minimize misunderstandings and delays
- Track project milestones and deliverables proactively identifying potential risks or scheduling conflicts and collaborating on mitigation strategies
Technical Support & Field Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance and support to field teams during installation and commissioning helping ensure smooth execution and quick resolution of technical issues
- Respond promptly to on-site technical questions and challenges collaborating with field personnel to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions
- Identify and propose engineering solutions to resolve project challenges leveraging technical expertise and practical experience to optimize system performance and reliability
- Coordinate with project managers and contractors to communicate technical requirements and resolve installation discrepancies
- Document field issues and resolutions ensuring lessons learned are captured and communicated for continuous improvement
Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to obtain technical specifications and support ensuring product compatibility and accurate documentation for design and submittal packages
- Review and validate vendor-provided information to confirm alignment with project requirements technical standards and customer expectations
- Coordinate product selection and substitution efforts when needed working with internal teams and vendors to support value engineering and procurement needs
- Maintain effective communication with external stakeholders to address technical questions lead times and integration challenges throughout the project lifecycle
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years experience in engineering or coordination
- Proficient in CAD and design tools
- Strong understanding of low-voltage systems including security access control fire alarm AV and related technologies
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings specifications and technical documentation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
