SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists Special Education programs of instruction that support the premise that high expectations for all students

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Demonstrates proficiency in planning developmentally appropriate research-based instructional strategies that addresses Kentuckys learning goals and learning outcomes for students
  2. Works cooperatively with classroom teachers who have disabled students in regular classes interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to the entire staff and assisting the student with regular class assignments
  3. Collaborates frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational social and personal problems of such students
  4. Collaborates with professional staff members in resolving the unique psychological or disciplinary problems of each student
  5. Assists the disabled students in making a realistic assessment of his/her abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with these abilities
  6. Undertakes continuing professional development of the disabled student in teaching methods related to his field
  7. Includes comprehensive and appropriate resources for teaching and learning situations
  8. Makes efficient use of human physical and time resources
  9. Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as outlined at the school/district
  10. Works with Special Education teachers in behavioral interventions for discipline issues
  11. Plans and organizes transitional meetings
  12. Chairs Special Education meetings for assigned school(s)
  13. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  14. Adheres to the professional code of ethics
  15. Successfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job function
  16. Performs such other tasks as may be requested by immediate supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Kentucky certificate license or other legal credential required

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
