Job Summary
A prestigious and high-achieving secondary school in Gloucester is seeking an exceptional Head of Music to lead and further develop its thriving Music department from April.
This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for an ambitious and talented Music specialist who is passionate about performance academic excellence and building a vibrant musical culture across the school.
The Role
As Head of Music you will take strategic responsibility for the development of Music across KS3 & KS4 with strong KS5 provision available. You will lead curriculum design assessment strategy and departmental improvement while maintaining a teaching timetable.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and shaping the vision and direction of Music across the school
Driving high standards of teaching learning and performance outcomes
Developing schemes of work that balance theory composition listening and performance
Overseeing GCSE and A-Level preparation and results
Leading concerts productions ensembles choirs and enrichment programmes
Supporting and mentoring departmental staff
You will play a central role in ensuring Music remains a flagship subject within the school.

The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher with QTS (or equivalent)
Strong subject knowledge in Music with experience teaching to KS5
Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a Head of Department role
Experience leading extracurricular music provision and school performances
A strategic and ambitious approach to departmental development
