Job Description:
A Boiler DCS (Distributed Control System) Operator/Engineer in a power plant is
responsible for controlling monitoring and optimizing boiler operations from a central control room to ensure safe efficient steam generation. They operate the DCS interface to manage parameters (pressure temperature fuel) handle startup/shutdown and manage alarms/troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- DCS Operation:Control boilers burners feed pumps fans and associated auxiliaries via the DCS interface particularly for AFBC or WHRB boilers.
- Monitoring & Optimization:Continuously monitor critical parameters (steam pressure/temp water levels fuel-to-air ratios) to maximize efficiency and combustion.
- Safety & Compliance:Respond to alarms and trips ensuring all operations adhere to environmental and safety regulations.
- Startup/Shutdown:Execute controlled startup and shutdown procedures according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve operational issues in real-time working closely with field operators for corrective actions.
- Data Recording:Maintain accurate shift logs trends and reports on boiler performance and malfunctions.
Qualifications:
- Typically a Diploma or in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation).
- Significant experience with Boiler DCS operations often 5 years for senior roles.
- Strong understanding of thermal power plant systems (e.g. AFBC CFBC).
