Introduction:

The Aga Khan Universitys Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute.

The IGHD works across four thematic areas including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change Urban Development and Health and; Agriculture Food Security and Nutrition.

This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to supervise project activities related to field and data management to ensure quality control while maintaining good working relationship with staff community and various stakeholders involved. Specific responsibilities will be to:

• Ensure proper identification and registration of patients as per study protocol;
• supervise and monitor domiciliary visits;
• monitor and report mortality and hospital surveillance;
• monitor and report on the disease surveillance from non-project facilities (private and public sectors and NGOs);
• provide training to the study staff as per the protocols and guidelines of study;
• liaison with community leaders and project staff to ensure smooth running of projects activities within the settings;
• ensure the completeness proper filings and archiving of the CRFs;
• make surprise visits to household and field sites to check quality of data collected;
• preparation and compilation of study progress report;
• in collaboration with the Data Manager prepare monthly project reports;
• present the study results as per the requirement;
• to develop high quality research proposals for funding agency; conduct research and contribute in publications;

• incumbent will be required to travel to different field sites within and outside District Badin; might require staying at remote locations as per the requirement of project activities.

Requirements

You should have:

• Epidemiology and Statistics / MPH / Masters in HPM/ Masters degree in Psychology/. in Anthropology/Masters in Social Sciences or equivalent;
• 2 to 3 years of relevant experience;
• highly organized and self-motivated;
• excellent interpersonal communication skills;
• proven mixed methods research skills;
• ability to work in teams;
• integrity and strong research ethics;
• excellent skills in community engagement and mobilization;
• excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
• should be able to communicate in Sindhi;

• strong computer skills; Knowledge of application of related software packages.
