The Safety Coordinator is an 8-hour shift Monday through Friday working in our state-of-the-art climate-controlled facility. To effectively perform duties this position may require overtime and a flexible schedule beyond the normal workday. This position will assist the corporate Safety Manager in all aspects of implementing and sustaining a strong safety culture in which safety is the number one value. Daily work to minimize the risk of job-related injuries will be crucial to the teams success. This position requires leading with a safety-first mindset. Job duties include: Assist in overseeing the success of the Morris Packagings Safety Program. Ensure the safety of all Morris Packaging employees. Assisting in creating and sustaining a safety culture that ensures safety is Morris Packagings number one value. Identifying risks and following projects through sustainable corrective action. Near Miss investigations. Assist with safety orientation of new employees. Assist with safety training for current employees. Perform safety audits of the facility. Assist in various meetings. Lead the safety committee.
Lead medical management program.. Competencies: Safety first mindset. Leadership qualities. Exercise confidentiality. Basic math skills. Ability to identify risks in manufacturing environments. Good communication skills both verbal and written. Basic computer skills. Forklift certified (company provided). Ability to perform general physical activities necessary to complete tasks. Record keeping skills. Detail oriented. Troubleshooting skills.
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years Safety experience in manufacturing (strongly preferred) or construction environment required. Licenses and Certifications: None
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee will be in both an office environment and on the plant floor. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers and filing cabinets and will require visits to the plant floor that is subject to vibration equipment noise and cleaning solvents leading to a loud environment.
Physical Demands: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and listen perform tasks requiring manual dexterity sit for extended periods of time and lift 20-40 pounds of office supplies. Repetitive motion using wrists hands fingers with the ability to feel and reach with hands and arms will also be required. Continuous (6 or more hours per day) working at a computer terminal. Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking and repetitive motion hand/wrist movement. Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) standing and walking. Good eyesight and normal hearing. Ability to move and lift objects up to 40 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Typically work standard business days and hours. Flexible to attend meetings or important functions that may occur during off hours and weekends to meet organizational initiatives. Travel: Position may occasionally travel to support business activities.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
